Chief Purpose of this position:
VCU School of Nursing invites applicants to apply to the role of Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Faculty. This is an open rank 12-month term faculty position who serves as faculty with clinical expertise in psychiatric mental health across the age span. Faculty hired into this position will teach primarily in undergraduate psych mental health, but may qualify for some graduate psychiatric mental health courses; contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; coordinate clinical sections and clinical education sites; develops preceptors and appropriate clinical sites, clinically supervise students in undergraduate clinical and/or graduate practica (if qualified); participate in school governance activities; and implement all roles of term track faculty (teaching, scholarship and service).
Faculty appointment rank, and salary are dependent on demonstrated scholarly achievement, certifications, and teaching experience.

- Demonstrates an integrated academic life, contributing to the teaching, scholarship, and service missions in an urban research-intensive university with an academic health science center
- Participates in all aspects of curriculum including curriculum development, teaching (in classroom and clinical settings), and evaluation
- Maintains a commitment to serving the school of nursing, university, profession, and community
- Maintains ongoing scholarly contributions to their field such as translation of evidence to practice, professional presentations, or manuscript publications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia
- Graduate degree in nursing
- Clinical experience working with individuals with mental health conditions
- Documented effectiveness in collaboration and communication
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) in nursing or related field (required to teach graduate courses)
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification (required to teach NP courses)
- Experience in higher education including teaching, simulation instruction, accreditation, program review or assessment
- Record of accomplishments in scholarship and professional service
