Position Responsibilities:

The Virginia Commonwealth University College of Humanities and Sciences is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty for Academic Year 2023-2024 course sections within the Department of Sociology. This pool will be utilized on an as-needed basis. Your application will remain active for a year; you may resubmit your application for subsequent years. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Position duties include:
• Meet all designated course instruction guidelines.
• Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner based on instructions/rubric provided.
• Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
• Submit final grades according to College/Department policy.
Teach one or more sections of selected courses in the Sociology Department, depending on the qualifications of the applicant and their discipline area, as listed in the qualifications section. This may include in-person and/or online instruction.

Required Qualifications:

Possess at least a master's degree in sociology or a related field (exceptions require approval). Possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications are a master's degree in Sociology, with degrees in related fields considered if there is experience teaching in the discipline as listed on the resume/vitae. PhD or other doctoral degree in Sociology or a related discipline or directly related to the position is preferred. Previous experience teaching courses within the field also preferred.

Salary Range: $1,352 per credit hour beginning spring 2024 semester
