The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to recruit an Assistant Professor Faculty Member.

The primary goal of this appointment is to develop noninvasive molecular tools for controlling and
monitoring endogenous processes in intact cells and tissues with a particular focus on the brain.
Through this work, it will provide deeper insight into the cause of brain disease and to uncover natural
processes in the brain. There will be a study of intact tissues over time, the approach will be highly
translational. To achieve this, you will combine therapeutic ultrasound, protein engineering and
evolution, and pharmacology to achieve noninvasive, spatiotemporal, and molecularly precise control
and monitoring of endogenous proteins in their natural environment, a capability beyond the current
technologies.

The minimum education to be considered for this position is a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
