Job Description
Nature and Level of Work
Perform heavy manual work involving laboring tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, holding, moving and equipment operation. Work is subject to close checking for efficiency, compliance with instructions and general effectiveness. Functional contacts include co-workers, service department employees, administrative personnel at the job location and other university staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Move, assemble, and deliver furniture (desks, filing cabinets, chairs, and bookshelves); move, haul, transport, and place heavy equipment, electrical transformers, hot water heaters, air conditioners, food supplies, materials, and various other items. May drive vehicles incidental to the performance of duties; operates mechanical or hydraulic aids as necessary.
- Perform short cycle job assignments which typically consist of the following routine: pick up load and place on truck by hand or with the aid of a dolly, ride on the truck to the building where the load is to be delivered; unload and move the load into the designated room or area; remove load from its container; assemble if necessary and remove empty containers.
- May be assigned to work on special work crews for tasks such as erecting and dismantling portable bleachers or setting up equipment for special events; cleanup of stadium, field house or other large area after special events; installation of temporary fixtures, route markers, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary
Salary Range: $12.05 - $19.66 per hour
GGS Grade: C

7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to read and write is required.
- Ability to:
- Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (25-75 lbs.) on a frequent basis
- Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, and staging
- Possession of a valid state driver's license and/or “Class C” commercial driver's license may be required for some positions.
