Security Officer
The University of Lynchburg is accepting applications for a part-time Security Officer to work during the evening shift. This position offers benefits. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of a residential or college/university environment; have solid communication proficiencies and comprehensive writing skills. Responsibilities include protecting and securing assigned areas of campus, buildings, outlying properties and the enforcement of current policy regulations of the University of Lynchburg and all applicable local/state/federal laws in order to maintain a peaceful and orderly academic/residential environment. Must be able to work some weekends. One year prior to police/security or military experience is strongly desired, but an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered. Virginia DCJS Campus Security Officer (CSO) certification will be required within 180 days of employment. CPR/AED/FR or EMT certifications are also desirable. A valid state driver's license is required. The selected candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint-based background check before full-time employment can begin. The selected candidate must also successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
Technology Support Services Analyst
The University of Lynchburg is accepting applications for a Technology Support Services Analyst within the Information Technology and Resources department. The full-time position is part of a team of IT professionals who provide in-house technical PC hardware and software support for the campus. Analysts respond to user calls/emails and personally visit associates to troubleshoot and diagnose PC, printer and software issues. Windows, Mac OS and Microsoft Office knowledge required; SCCM and JAMF/Casper experience a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills along with an ability to effectively communicate with a variety of technical levels a must. Two years of college or technical coursework, or equivalent work experience required. The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
Groundskeeper
The University of Lynchburg is accepting applications for a full-time Groundskeeper. Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor, the primary duties include but are not limited to, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, sodding, installing landscaping, mulching, pruning & snow removal. The successful candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. & perform general grounds maintenance tasks of a standardized nature using a variety of hand tools & motorized equipment. Inclement or hazardous weather cleanup is required as directed by the Grounds Supervisor & Director. Qualifications: One to three years of experience in grounds-related services. Knowledge, training, & experience in grounds keeping, gardening & landscaping techniques preferred. Valid Virginia driver's license required pesticide certification is pref. & trash truck experience preferred. The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
