Part-Time Administrative Assistant

The University of Lynchburg is accepting applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Dean of Students. This position contributes to fulfillment of all receptionist, administrative, and office management functions, including duties associated with the student conduct process, while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality. The typical work schedule is 20 hours per week (afternoons, Monday – Friday; 1-5 p.m. preferred) during the University's fall and spring semesters but may occasionally be adjusted to meet workload and office needs. Some work during summer months may be required.

An optimal candidate must have excellent oral, written, proofreading, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and typing skills. Effective computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet creation and management, are required. Proficiency in Google Suite and related computer applications is preferred. An optimal candidate must have demonstrated success working in an office setting, handling multiple priorities, accuracy, and attention to detail, as well as a proven history of reliability. An optimal candidate must be courteous, people-oriented, and able to work effectively with others.

The work setting in an active office environment with frequent interruptions and interactions with others. Timely, efficient, and accurate completion of time-sensitive tasks is required daily. Frequent standing and walking required. High school diploma and computer skills training required. Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check.
