Utility Systems Operator

Performs operational, construction and maintenance duties designed to operate water production and distribution and sewer collection systems.   Work includes monitoring operations of systems;  pumps and plants; operation of heavy equipment; maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines; maintenance and repair of lift stations and pumps; well operation and maintenance; installation of new lines, meters and hydrants; meter reading; and related activities. Graduation from high school and some experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater collection and/or well water production and/or distribution system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must possess or be able to obtain grade I collection system operator certificate, well operator grade C, and/or grade C distribution system certification within six months; additional certifications may be required. Valid NC driver’s license required, CDL preferred.  Comprehensive benefit package.  Salary range $42,000 - $48,982. Application available at www.tyrrellcounty.org or Tyrrell County Personnel Office.
