Director of Finance
The Town of South Boston, Virginia is seeking applications from candidates to serve as the next Director of Finance to manage the Town’s financial resources and oversee the daily operations of the Town’s Finance Department. The Finance Director will work closely with and report to the Town Manager. The functions of the Finance Department include, but are not limited to, the collecting, accounting, and monthly and annual reporting of all funds received and expended; managing Town investments; accounts payable and accounts receivable functions; tax collection (including delinquent tax collection and other enforcement activities); and issuance of business licenses. The Director of Finance will supervise and direct all daily operations of the finance team. The finance department consist of a full-time staff of two cashiers and an accounts payable specialist.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum qualifications for the position include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, or related field. Also, at least three (3) years of supervisory experience with a comparable or larger size unit of government or other agency is preferred.
The compensation package includes health insurance, paid time off, and Virginia Retirement System retirement benefits. The salary for the position is negotiable with a maximum starting range up to $98,919 annually, depending on the candidates experience and qualifications.
