Senior Engineer

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency seeks an individual to manage and provide project-specific oversight in planning, engineering, budgeting, and coordinating the construction,
operation, and maintenance of the Agency’s power system resources.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Manages costs, deadlines, permit requirements, maintenance standards, construction methods, safety requirements, and other Agency specifications for metering, transmission, and generation projects to assure timely completion of projects within budgeted guidelines.
 Coordinates and maintains operating manuals, programs, and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with established standards of various state and federal agencies and other regulatory bodies.
 Manages environmental compliance procedures for state and federal environmental regulatory agencies by performing or contracting for required periodic testing, maintaining required documentation and filing required submittals.
 Oversees Agency-owned renewable energy assets certification and renewable certificate registration within the Midwest Renewable Energy Tracking System (M-RETS®) and develops long-term forecasts for compliance with the Minnesota Renewable Energy Standard (RES).
 Conducts research and performs financial, economic, and technological analysis regarding issues pertaining to the utility industry.

Desired Education and Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Five or more years of related utility experience with strong project management and communication skills.
 Knowledge of accounting, computers, utility contracts, generation and transmission systems, business and design philosophy, business law, land management, permits, easements, and construction project management is preferred.
