Morgan State University is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our adjunct faculty for the College of Interdisciplinary and Continuing Studies. As part of the adjunct faculty in the college, instructors will have the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses for our degree completion programs. All courses will be conducted online, fostering a dynamic and flexible learning environment for adult learners returning to school.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality instruction while employing innovative and interdisciplinary teaching methods. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and active participation.
- Student Support: Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments. Cultivate positive relationships with students, responding to their inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Embrace and promote diversity in all its forms, ensuring a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for learners from various backgrounds and experiences.
- Adaptability to Online Teaching: Demonstrate proficiency in online teaching techniques and utilize the university's Learning Management System (Canvas LMS) effectively to facilitate a seamless virtual classroom experience.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow faculty members to share best practices and contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Master's Degree (for undergraduate courses) from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
- Commitment to Innovation: Show a strong interest in staying current with emerging technologies and trends in online education.
- Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with students and colleagues in a virtual environment.
- Passion for Education: Exhibit a genuine passion for teaching and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience with Adult Learners: Candidates with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with adult learners, especially those returning to school for degree completion programs, will be preferred.
- Online Teaching Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in teaching online courses.
