Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to join the Des Marais Lab and conduct research in the area of plant developmental responses to environmental variation. The Des Marais Lab is broadly interested in plant evolution, plant ecophysiology, sustainable agriculture, and the genetic basis of plant responses to stressful abiotic conditions. Will lead a recently funded project to explore how environmental conditions affect the number and pattern of tillers produced by a grass plant. This project builds on an existing project exploring the genetic and environmental control of plant life history strategies using the model grass genus Brachypodium. The funded work focuses on the relationship between whole-plant carbon status and tiller initiation, seeking to understand the relative contributions of genetic and environmental determinants on tillering.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, developmental biology, or related field. PREFERRED: experience in plant tissue culture and/or stable genetic transformation. Job #22749
The position can begin as early as September 1, 2023, and is initially available for two years depending on satisfactory progress.
