Job Description:


The Longwood University Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Studies in the Cook-Cole College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track lecturer position (F0322) to begin August 2024. The successful candidate will possess a master's degree in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related field.

The department seeks a generalist in criminology or closely related field who is excited to teach a variety of undergraduate courses within the department's current offerings in criminology and offer new courses to address current topics and issues in the field of criminology and criminal justice. Candidates who are able to contribute to the department's inequalities and diversities areas in criminology and who area able to teach theory will be given preference. The successful candidate will teach 15 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses and contribute to advising students in the major. Longwood's Criminal Justice Program has approximately 200 undergraduate majors.


Requirements:
  • Master's degree in criminology, criminal justice, or a closely related field
  • Candidates with demonstrated college teaching ability preferred.
  • A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is preferred.

This is a full-time, non-tenure-track instructional faculty position. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
