Job Description:


The Department of Theatre, Art, and Graphic and Animation Design in the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position (F0020) at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2024. The theatre program provides degree programs of study leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. In collaboration with the Department of Music, the theatre program also offers a minor in Musical Theatre. The theatre program is accredited by NAST and has membership in SETC, USITT, and ACTF.

Primary responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses, including courses in acting (beginning to period style), voice, movement, other courses in support of the theatre program's curriculum, as well as courses that contribute to the University's Civitae Core Curriculum. The successful candidate should have expertise in many levels of acting training, as well as a strong background in Musical Theatre performance. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to departmental directing duties primarily in the area of musical productions. In addition to the primary responsibility of innovative undergraduate teaching, faculty are also expected to advise students in the major, develop a research program involving undergraduates, participate in service at the department and University level and maintain their scholarship.


Requirements:


This position requires a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting, or equivalent. Preferred consideration will be given towards candidates with professional acting experience and evidence of college-level teaching in acting. Preference is also given to a demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of the university mission.

This position is a full-time, tenure-track instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
