CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN AND CAMPUS CHEMICAL SAFETY OFFICER

Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for a Chemistry Technician and Campus Chemical Safety Officer.  Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty, the Chemistry Technician will serve as manager of the Chemistry Department Stockroom.  Duties include management of the department budget and hazardous waste disposal; maintaining student employee records and files of Material Safety Data Sheets; and place orders to chemical, glassware and laboratory equipment suppliers.  The Chemistry Technician will also assist professors of record with running introductory lab sequence and serves as the chemical safety officer for the College.

Qualifications:  Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry and 3 years’ previous experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Master’s in Chemistry is preferred.
