Qualified persons are invited to apply to the City of Beaver Falls Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman in the City of Beaver Falls Police Department.
An application packet can be obtained beginning Monday, June 5, 2023 at the City Building, second floor, 715 15th Street, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.
Completed applications must be returned by 3:30 PM, Wednesday, July 5, 2023
No applications will be accepted after Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 3:30 PM.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, be a minimum of 21 years of age, must have successfully completed Pennsylvania Act 120 Certification, including passing the final exam within the past (2) two years, prior to submitting the application, required to live within twenty-five (25) air miles of the Beaver Falls City Building, a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Driver’s License, and be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer as determined by the physical and psychological testing. Successful applicants must meet all other Civil Service requirements.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Starting salary for 2023 per contract is $46,944.65 (contract 2023 Patrolman top tier base salary is $69,393.47 and 2026 Patrolman top tier base salary is $80,331.63), compensation for off-duty court attendance, with an excellent fringe benefit package including medical, eye and dental insurance, three (3) weeks’ vacation and three (3) personal days after one year probation, $800.00 yearly clothing allowance, sick and holiday bonuses, education compensation and reimbursements.
TESTING DATE AND TIME: The physical agility test will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 and will be conducted at the Allegheny County Police Training Academy. The written test will begin at 1:00 PM also on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 and will be conducted at the Beaver Falls Municipal Building. Applicants must bring a valid photo identification to each test.
Physical Agility Testing will include Push-ups, Sit-ups, 1.5 Mile Run (timed), 300-meter run (timed). Candidates will be evaluated on and must pass these at the 30th percentile standard based upon the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research standards. This is a cumulative test. Each event is pass/fail; thus, if one event is failed the entire test is failed.
Applicants successfully passing both the physical agility test and written test will be invited to sit for the oral examination beginning at 6:30 PM on July 18, 2023 in Beaver Falls City Building. Individual oral examination time slots will be determined by candidate ranking after successful completion of the written test.
