Serve your community in a satisfying career!! Amherst County Service Authority, an EOE, is accepting applications for a full time Water Treatment Operator in Madison Heights. An experienced, licensed operator is preferred, but ACSA will hire and train an apprentice. Those applying as licensed operators must demonstrate current licensure and suitable experience. An apprentice needs no prior experience, but must have a high school diploma or GED, with at least average grades in mathematics and sciences. The work pertains to the treatment of water for human consumption, with
increasing responsibility as training, experience, and reliability are demonstrated. The work also includes general plant housekeeping, grounds maintenance, and occasional other utility work, including construction assistance.
Advancement in licensure is required to maintain employment, with each succeeding license resulting in promotion and compensation increase. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, and evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be accessible and responsive to alarms and emergencies at all times. A strong candidate will be dependable, interested in biology and public health, and have mechanical aptitude, a current Virginia driver's license and good driving record, and a willingness to learn and undertake new and varying assignments. Security, driving, and drug screen checks will be completed on final applicants.
Starting salary depends on qualifications, experience, licensure, and references, with apprentices starting at $30,000,
